Badger

|
Location: Kansas
One look at Badger's face will tell you this guy is just overflowing with personality. There may be a little Boston Terrier in his lineage, as he has a very short "corkscrew" tail, undershot jaw, and black and white coloring. His undershot jaw gives him a bit of a pugnacious look and his character sometimes matches. He had been surrendered because no one had time for him anymore and he was tied up in the back yard all alone. Badger gets along fine with 12 out of 13 foster Rat Terrier "siblings" but took a dislike to one, whom he is determined to whoop every time he gets in the same room. Because of this chance of aggression if the personalities clash, Badger needs to be an only dog or with a non-dominant female. He is 6-7 years old and around 15 very solid pounds. He is a charming fellow -- likes people and is fine with children but untrustworthy around small animals, including cats. Badger will sleep quietly in a crate but will complain if left in the crate while everyone else is active. He is housebroken, using a dog door reliably. Despite his rather "tough guy" appearance, Badger's personality will win you over quickly when you met him.

Baxter

Location: Washington
Handsome, mature loverboy seeks special human to share couch and bed! Baxter is a sweet, laid back 17-lb. boy who was found limping beside a busy road with an injured leg, later diagnosed as a badly fractured femur. He is currently recovering from the removal of the upper ball of his femur and is relearning to use his left rear leg but will probably always walk with a bit of a limp. He was also heartworm positive, but has been successfully treated. He is probably 6 to 8 years old. (The vet who operated on his leg thinks that he is not a senior yet, in spite of the grey around his face.) Baxter's favorite activity is lying on the sofa under a blanket, grasping a stuffed toy with his legs while gently chewing on it. He's good in a crate, but wants to be with his person during thunderstorms. He gets along very well with other dogs and ignores cats. He loves to go for walks and would probably benefit from a regular swimming routine to strengthen his leg. He's housebroken but has an occasional accident when his fostermom doesn't see that he wants outside. Baxter has many years of love left to give. Are you the special person who will open a heart and home to this sweet boy?

Mr Jack Goodboy

Location: Georgia
I’m Mr. Jack Goodboy. I’m a quirky 7-year-old guy who is still learning new things every day. I get very excited to see my foster mom when she gets home from work and will jump in the air to say hello. I really enjoy being brushed and getting a fully body rub down. I’ve been practicing using a dog door and get better with each try. If you make sure I get outside regularly, that's where I'll potty. I’m not a fan of wood or slick floors, but will run across them after a few minutes of talking myself into it. I enjoy being part of the dog pack here, although when some of my friends get in my face I snap at them to let them know that it’s not nice. At bedtime, I’d really like to sleep with you or on a dog bed in your room. I walk great on leash and really enjoy going for walks, which is good because I am a stocky 14 lbs. and am working on losing 4 - 5 of them. I was told that I have a collapsed trachea, which can make me gasp at times, but as long as I walk with a harness instead of a collar, it doesn’t seem to be an issue. I’m looking for an easygoing forever family.

Saucy Sassy

Location: Florida
Saucy Sassy was surrendered to rescue by her owner. Poor Sassy had not been socialized or fully housebroken when she was surrendered, but she is now doing very well with housebreaking and crate training. Her social skills are also coming along nicely. Sassy loves to run and play with the other dogs in her foster home. She does well with the cats, too. Saucy Sassy weighs about 16 pounds, and is very tall & leggy. She is only 1 year old, so has lots of time to love a family of her own. We feel that Sassy would do well with older kids (10 years & up), but not so well with very young children due to her lack of socialization early in life. She is also still inclined to jump up on people.

Spikey

Location: New York
Middle Aged Gent Seeks Lasting Companionship! Spikey is a sweet 15-lb., 7-year-old whose family gave him up when they moved. Luckily they called Ratbone, and now he is doing great in fostercare. Spikey has a very expressive face with a wisened, Yoda-like character. Happy, he is. Although overall he is healthy, Spikey does have a food allergy and cannot eat grain-based kibble or treats, but this is easy to avoid since grain-free brands are readily available. He also has a cateract in one eye but it does not seem to affect his vision. He loves barking at dogs on TV and can spot them at a glance! Spikey enjoys people, gets along with other dogs (but with a tendency to show off in front of females, yapping and chasing), and does okay with cats, though he has never lived with one full-time. Spikey loves to snuggle in bed and bury himself in blankets. He is crate trained and happy to spend time there. He also loves long walks and playing outside. Won't you give this kindly gentleman the companionship he craves?
