Patrick male

2016-01-28

Location: Florida

Patrick is a very special Rattie. When we first saw him, he was cowering in the back of his cage at a high kill shelter in Miami, FL. Not much was known about him aside from the fact that there was something wrong with his left eye. He was not able to see out of the eye and it was bulging out a little. Nothing extreme, but he needed to see a specialist. We got him out and immediately he bonded closely to his foster mom. She noticed that he held up his right knee when walking briskly so that was also evaluated; Patrick had a very bad luxating patella (knee) and it needed surgery. His eye would only get worse, so we had a specialist remove his eye and work on his knee. Pat recovered nicely from his surgeries, acting like nothing happened. He no longer cowers in fear, but now has a VERY brave persona. He protects his fostermom from critters like squirrels, cats and large dogs. He is quite the character - loving, affectionate and brave. We are looking for a special home for Pat. He loves long walks and to cuddle on the couch. Pat would prefer to be the only doggie in the home because he wants all the attention to himself. Gumby male

2017-05-14

Adopted!

CongRATs to the Benes family!

Location: Florida

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Gumby Ratbone is a SPECIAL boy! We were alerted to his plight when a video of him trembling in a cage at a high kill shelter in South Florida was posted. The shelter said his medical was normal - they did not list anything about his rotten and broken teeth. Poor Gumby had MAJOR periodontal disease, and many of his teeth were already missing. He had to have TEN teeth removed, but he pulled thru like nothing happened. Gumby is a very affectionate boy. He is fine with cats and dogs of small to medium size. He isn't happy around larger dogs, and will growl at them - but he responds quickly when he is asked to behave. Gumby is crate trained and enjoys snuggling in bed with his fostermom and some of the other critters. He is GREAT on a leash, and loves to just chill out and watch DVDs and TV shows. Any applicants should understand and accept that Gumby should have regular check ups, and may very likely need yearly dental cleanings, to take care of the remaining teeth that he has. Gumby is about 7 years old and weighs 15 pounds. He loves lamb & rice dry food and he likes "stew"type canned food. Gumby is ready for a great home, one who will adore him and really take care of this special boy. More pictures of Gumby Ratbone can be found here in his album.

Max male

2017-08-12

Location: Florida

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Seniors need love too! Max was surrendered by his family to a high kill shelter - at the age of 12 years! He came to us with an old injury to his back leg - which can't be fixed now, due to his age - and horrible dental disease. Max has had a complete dental cleaning, and he is now ready and eager for his retirement home. Max is dog friendly, and is a happy boy. He LOVES to play fetch with tennis balls, even though he doesn't have many teeth left.Would you consider sharing your love with this happy, active fellow for the rest of his life?

Nemo male

2016-05-25

Location: Florida

Nemo is a very special little 2 year old boy. We saw his picture at a high kill shelter, and saw that both of his rear legs were broken. We knew he'd need tons of TLC and 2 very expensive surgeries, but we knew his time was short, and we wanted to save him. We got him to a vet for x-rays and contacted a few orthopedic vets to see which one would best suit Nemo's unique needs. We have thankfully raised the funds to pay half of his total bill , and he is doing GREAT post-surgery! Nemo is walking well but has a slight limp on one leg - but he is raring to go go go! Donations are graciously accepted towards Nemo's orthopedic surgeries here. More pictures of Nemo can be seen here in his photo album. We are currently taking applications on this small, special boy.

Hunter male

2018-02-11

Adopted!

CongRATs to the McCabe family!

Location: Florida

Hunter is a sweet, submissive little guy. He ran into a cat trap because he was so starved for food. The Humane Society contacted us to rescue this little boy, and we have been showing him what love and security is all about. Hunter is 3-5 years old, and about 10 pounds. He was VERY shy when he arrived, and would always lay on his back exposing his belly. Hunter still does that with new people he meets, but in his foster home he runs around with his ears PERKED up and his tail in the air. This little boy needs a family who will love him forever and continue to show him love and security. Hunter is crate trained and working on house breaking. He seems to feel more comfortable around dogs his size & up to 25 pounds. Large dogs (like pointers) scare him, even though they are gentle, so he may have had bad experiences with large dogs in his life.
