January Jack

Hi, I’m January Jack. My friends just call me Jack. I’m about 16-18 pounds and 6 years old. I need a new home because my family moved very far away. I love to watch TV, and actually get quite involved with dogs and other animals that come on; I try to talk to them and make friends or scare them away!! I am very well mannered most of the time, and I'm completely housebroken. I don’t get in the trash, or pick at your toys either (I have some of my own). I really don’t like loud noises, stereos, or being startled, and sometimes I bark at them. I get a bit unnerved and will go find my blanket and stay put. I'd love to cuddle under the covers with you, though I’d prefer not to be moved when I'm napping - even though my fostermom does it all the time. I'll love to listen to you talk to me and will give you all sorts of expressions, as I truly do have a clue what you are saying. My foster brothers and sister are kind of fun; I can play with the Husky/Shepherd, and play keep away with the ones of my own size. Cats are not my favorite animals and I’d prefer a home without one. The rest of the time I am relaxed and want to play with my new Mom or Dad. I guess I’d like to be the only dog and the apple of your eye. Loud and playful kids could scare me too but that depends upon how we end up getting to know each other. My foster mom says that I have cute ears and engaging eyes and for the most part I am a very good and loveable boy!

Butch

|
Location: New York
Meet Butch! He may have a tough name, but this little boy is a teddy bear! Butch is around 9 pounds and about 6 or 7 years old. He came from a North Carolina kill shelter, where he was dumped by a family member after his owner had a stroke. Butch is a super sweet dog and would make a perfect companion for someone who's looking for a lap dog. He is crate trained and gets along with other dogs, but we're not sure how he would be with kids & cats. Butch's fostermom thinks he would probably be OK with them, cuz he's such a mellow fellow! If you're looking for a little lap warmer - Butch is the boy for you!

Trixie

|
Location: Montana
This is Trixie, an 8 year old, Type "B" (otherwise known as the Teddy Roosevelt type) Rat Terrier. She is a bit pudgy right now, at 15 pounds, but is on a diet to help her watch her weight. Trixie and her brother Ralph were apartment dwellers before coming to rescue, and weren't exposed much to other critters or children, other than the family cat. As a result she tends to be a bit nervous around children, and overwhelmed by quick movements and rough play. Lap warming is Trixie's speciality, and she would love to spend most of the day keeping her person nice and toasty. She is crate trained, housetrained, knows some basic commands, and is good on a leash. Trixie is very devoted to her people and is a good listener. A quiet home without little ones would be best for this gentle girl.

Princess

|
Location: Florida
Princess has lived in a condo for most of her life, so she is flexible for a house or apartment. She's used to sleeping on bed with her current owner, and likes to wear doggie clothes. Princess is good with children as long as they don't try to grap her, so she would probably be best with kids over 5 years of age only. She gets along with other dogs once she gets to know them. Princess is 8 years old and weighs 15 pounds.
Note: This is a Guardian Assistance Placement (GAP) Program dog, meaning he/she has been fortunate enough to remain in his/her home while looking for his/her new home. Veterinary records have been verified, but we must rely on input from the owner for information on behavior and temperament.

Ed

Location: Florida
My name is Ed. I am 6 years old, 16 inches tall, and 22 pounds. I am a standard Rat Terrier, and currently live with two other dogs that I have had no problems getting along with (or any other dogs I've ever met). I used to have a cat and I really liked to chase and bark at her, so I probably wouldn't be a good match for a home with cats. I love children! I'm a little overwhelming for very small children, but I can't wait to visit with any kids over the age of 4 or 5. They seem to have the same energy level that I do, so we get along just fine. I have many hobbies; chasing squirrels, digging in the yard to get moles, etc. I do require a securely fenced yard, and you should be sure to check and make sure it stays secure, because if you don't - I will find a way out. My current mom rescued me approximately 3 years ago from a local kill shelter. We have trained in Rally Obedience and dog Agility together. I earned my AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate a couple of years ago. I also have my ILP with AKC, so that I can compete in companion dog events. I walk on a leash without any problems and love to work... for food. I am in excellent health and my teeth are in good shape - and so is my waistline. If you are looking for a Rat Terrier with enough energy to play when you want who is more than willing to hang out on a blanket and nap too, then I'm the guy for you.
Note: This dog is a "Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning he/she is being cared for in a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has supplied vet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibility to rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannot otherwise vouch for any of the information provided.
