Martin

Location: North Carolina
Martin is my formal name but my friends call me Marty. I was found at a freeway exit in South Carolina. Not too nice of way to treat an old friend. I am probably 8-10 yrs old. I am undergoing heartworm treatment right now, but will be ready to go to a new home in early October. I have a bit of a back issue that causes me some mobility issues. I get around fine, just sometimes my back legs don't quite know what they're doing. I am taking some great joint supplements that have helped a lot. But even with this issue - I still let my foster mom know when I need to go out, and I do very well with housebreaking as long as I'm on a schedule. I don't need a lot of exercise, but I do enjoy playing a bit, just slow, easy play. I can be a bit grumpy with other dogs and with cats, but do fine with non-dominant dogs. Since I'm not the quickest on my feet I really can't do much to the cats, other than grump at them. Foster-mommy days I am a pretty "easy keeper". I love my bed and I like a blanket over me when I sleep. I don't jump on the furniture and I don't jump on people. Every once in while I need a little rub on the face and then I'm good to go. I will follow you around - but I don't need constant physical attention. I am very content with a soft bed, a blanket, a good meal, and a trip outside every so often. I really don't think I would do well with kids (no offense kids). Here are a few pics and a video to help you decide. I look a little grey in the face, but that is what we call wisdom. So in summary - I am kind of a Grumpy Old Man who would make a great companion if you're looking for a Low Maintenance Pal. If this is what you want in a dog please fill out an application, and make sure to include my name: Martin!

Bama

2010-08-25
|
Location: Florida
Bama is approximately 1 to 2 years old, and was rescued as a pregnant stray in Alabama. No one looked for this sweet, potty trained, well-mannered little girl at all. Bama has short, stocky legs and the sweetest disposition. She just loves to be with people, wanting to be held, to lay next to you, to snuggle up close and give lovin’s. When she loses her weight from her pups Bama will weigh approximately 10-15 pounds. She has the sweetest eyes and shows how much she loves to be with you by looking up at you with those eyes and waging her beautiful long tail. Bama likes to get in bed and slide under the covers until only a lump is seen. She is potty trained, and will go to the door and sit or bark to let you know she needs to go out. Bama also uses a doggie door to go out and do her business in a secure, fenced yard. She walks on leash, but a harness should be used as she may “slip” a regular collar. Bama had five pups (four boys and one girl), and is a good mommy. She is still needed to care for her pups, but should be spayed and ready to go to her forever home around the first to middle part of October. Bama is sweet and gentle even when taking food from your hand. She should do well with children, and does excellent with all of the dogs in her foster-pack. Please don’t wait to apply if you want this adorable girl for your own - go ahead, apply, and have the peace of mind that you got the dog you chose. A little girl this sweet, smart, and precious just won’t be around long. Don’t delay, apply today! Additional photos can be seen in her image event album.

Indy

|
Adoption Pending!
CongRATs to the Smith family!
Location: Michigan
Indy is approximately 4-5 years old and weighs 10 pounds. She is a chocolate tri-color with beautiful amber brown eyes. Indy came from a shelter in Indiana so it's difficult to say what her life has been like. Since coming to her foster home she has very quickly picked up on a hectic family routine and done very well. Indy is very playful and will initiate play with both the large and small dogs in her foster home. She also shares her foster home with two cats without any problem. Indy is good with kids ranging in age from 8-17 years, but might be a bit rambunctious for very young children. While she is very friendly, Indy is also very shy when first approached by someone. She would do well in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help build her self-esteem. Indy has caught on very quickly to crate training, and is comfortable and quiet being crated when left alone - and she has had no accidents in the house since her arrival. If you're looking for a devoted companion - you've found her!

Jersey

2009-04-07
|
Location: Indiana
Jersey is a beautiful tri-colored, 7 year old Rat Terrier that is about 12 inches tall, weighing 10 pounds. She was surrendered to Ratbone in January (09), and is one of the worst cases of neglect that her foster mom has seen. When she first came into foster care the poor gal slinked along the floor and was literally frozen with fear. Poor Jersey with the lovely brown eyes was a puppy mill breeder dog when she entered foster care; she was frightened of everything, including dogs, cats, grass, loud noises, and especially humans. She has adjusted well to being with her fostermoms and lnow loves snuggling. With two months of good food and love she is warming up and starting to become a loving and fun little snuggle-bunny. Poor Jersey didn’t know that humans could be gentle and loving, and she was always fearful of being hit or harmed before she came into rescue. She was afraid of going through doorways, but can now cross the threshold to go outside without fear. In just a few months she has learned to trust people, and she enjoys hanging out on the bed and sleeping under the covers. Jersey is ok on a leash and gets along with all of the dogs and cats she lives with, but is still very leery of strangers. Given a little time, she will come out and meet everyone in the room. She's not quite potty trained, but is getting better every day. Due to her shyness and small size Jersey would not do well in a home with small children, though she does well with teenagers. When things get a little overwhelming for Jersey she can be found hanging out under the bed with her friend Topaz the cat, and her buddy Brown County Pete. Jersey needs a forever home that is quiet and calm, with a special someone who can take the time to gain her trust and allow her to get use to a new home and family.

Coco Puff

2010-05-16
|
Location: Kansas
Coco Puff is a chocolate tri-color Rat Terrier. She has a good disposition and loves attention. Coco is very muscular and can jump like a rabbit; clearing a 4 foot fence or gate is not hard for her, so she will need a tall fence to keep her contained. If Coco escapes she will probably just go to the front door and wait to be let in, as what she wants most is to be near people. She loves people and getting attention from them; children fascinate her, but she's probably a bit energetic for toddlers. Coco is a little bossy but generally gets along well with the other dogs; she would probably not match well with another dominant female. Coco is submissive to humans and wants to please. Cats are OK; she has had limited contact, but was not aggressive with a calm cat. Coco Puff has an album here.
