Cricket female

2016-07-24

Location: Florida

Our sweet 4 month old Cricket comes to us from Georgia, where she and her brother Cody were in the shelter in Valdosta. Both were in danger of being euthanized; Cody because of an injured and misshapen paw, and Cricket because of mange. Cricket is a sweet little puppy who LOVES to give gentle kisses. She is submissive to the other puppies in her foster home, but loves loves loves to run and play and try to be part of the pack. Cricket is currently under treatment for demodectic mange, which is not contagious to humans or other dogs. This cutie will be available SOON, once her skin condition has been cleared up. More pictures of Cricket can be found here in her album.

Sheba female

2013-09-29

Location: Ohio

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Hi! I'm Sheba, a 7 year old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. Somehow I found myself stranded in a rural Ohio shelter when my family was no longer able to care for me. That's when I got lucky and Ratbone found me. I'm currently living with my fostermom and her dogs. I'm fine with other dogs, although I was a little frightened of the big dog a first, but I got use to him. My fostermom says I'm the sweetest thing and love everyone. I do think everyone should like me, and I want them to pet me; I'm very friendly. I probably should be in a home with adults or older children - no small, young children, as I'm a little set in my ways. I have this unique personality that when I want something I growl to let you know. I'm not mean at all, just trying to get your attention. Did I mention that I'm housebroken, too? I'm sure if you looked at my pictures you'll notice that I'm a little chunky. My fostermom says I need to lose weight and we have to work on that.... Well, I'm an older girl, and I do enjoy my food! I have a bad habit that my fostermom is trying to stop, but I'm not cooperating... I like to sneak in the bathroom and unroll the toilet paper, and I do eat some of it, but I'm hungry! I like to go for walks, too! So if you're looking for an older, friendly, mostly quiet (OK - I do bark a bit, especially at the dogs next door) girl that just wants to be loved, petted, go for a nice walk and have a soft cushion to lay on (preferably on a couch or chair).... you've found her! Here are some more pictures of me.

Zuzu female

2015-05-26

Adopted!

CongRATs to the Lindsay family!

Location: Oklahoma

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Zuzu was rescued from a north Texas shelter. She had heartworms, but completed treatment with no lasting ill effects. Zuzu is probably about 7 to 8 years old, and weighs around 17 pounds; she's tall and "leggy", but has filled out nicely since coming into rescue. Zuzu is good with the other dogs at her foster home, and mostly pays no attention to the cats. She has not been around kids at her foster home, but with her temperament she should do fine with kids over the age of 7 or 8. Zuzu is now crate-training and housebroken! Now that she has been in her foster home for a significant amount of time, we can say with confidence that Zuzu is a very sweet, biddable, and affectionate girl to her humans. She will play with the younger dogs when they ask her to, and gets very happy and excited when all the other dogs do. Zuzu is not a noisy girl, but when she barks you sure can hear her! She would do well with a small family, or with a senior couple (or single person). Please use this link to visit Zuzu's photo album.

Rusty male

2015-05-25

Location: Idaho

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
This is Rusty. He will turn 8 years old in June (2016). Rusty is a neutered Rat Terrier. He is current on shots. Rusty is a twenty pound Dynamo. He has striking looks, yes, but a remarkable personality too! Rusty is very funny and lively. He has high energy, is an active little guy, and needs mental stimulation and lots of physical activity. Rusty is also a major love bug who not only loves to be held and cuddled, but he frequently asks to be picked up. Of course, like most Rat Terriers, he wants to sleep between the covers and share your bed pillow. Rusty is a clean boy who bathes himself and enjoys tub-baths; we do not know if he likes to swim. He loves to run and needs a chance to dig some holes. Rusty needs land - some property - to be happy. He is a compulsive healer and would make an excellent therapy dog. Rusty would love agility or any other kind of daily training and exercise program; he needs a job or hobby to fulfill his potential. Rusty is vocal and "talks". His vocalizations have given us great delight for nearly 8 years. Rusty is great with people, very friendly, and likes kids too - if they respect him and know how to approach a dog. He did great with the three elderly female dogs that were in his pack, but not so much with adult male dogs. He has been spoiled and he is a dog with a strong, dominant personality. He has been too aggressive with his special needs brother (a very spooky boy) and his elderly brother recently, which has forced his family to find him a new home. Rusty is an excellent housemate; he has never been destructive, and actually still has most of his original toys. He loves to play with toys, do puzzles, find treats, run, be with his people, learn new things and go for walks. Rusty is an extraordinary dog with huge potential. The ideal personal companion! Rusty is NOT good with cats at all, and he needs to be an only dog. If you have space, time and energy to give this boy, he will give you a lifetime of joy and laughter. Rusty is pure delight! To see more pictures of Rusty, please click here.
Note: This is a Guardian Assistance Placement (GAP) Program dog, meaning he/she has been fortunate enough to remain in his/her current home while looking for a new home. Veterinary records have been verified, but we must rely on input from the owner for information on behavior and temperament.

Rattatouille male

2016-09-18

Location: Indiana

My name's Rattatouille, but my friends all call me "Tewie". I'm about a year old. I came to my foster home from New Jersey, where I got dumped at a big dog rescue. I like to play and I like to dig holes. I am a beautiful blue merle & white purebred Rat Terrier boy, with one blue eye. The ladies who sent me to my Indiana foster home said I was a "designer dog reject", since I came with only one blue eye (instead of two). I am very lovable and handsome, so I don't think I'm a reject!! I like to go outside to play, and I sleep quietly in my crate at the end of the day. I will need a fenced yard because I like to explore and I might go too far and get lost without a safely fenced yard. I like men, women and children equally; maybe I should be looking for a family with some kiddos to play with! You can see lots of pretty pictures of me here in my album.
