Luna female

2016-02-28

Location: Florida

For a dog with skin infected from neglect, terrible hair loss, flea bite allergy and demodectic mange, Luna sure is a HAPPY girl! From the minute her foster mom met her, she has had a wagging tail. Luna has been under our care since January . Everyone at the vet's office adores Luna because she is always happy. Her hair is starting to grow back and her backbone is no longer visible. She has gained a fair amount of weight, so she is no longer emaciated. Luna loves to go for walks, she loves to curl up on the couch and watch TV, and she likes to cuddle in bed while her fostermom plays words with friends. She is a great protector and will bark at pesky birds flying by, and those strange people going past on the contraptions with 2 wheels. Luna is making great progress with her skin. To see more of Luna's photographs, please visit her album.

Sasha female

2014-08-11

Location: Oklahoma

Sasha was rescued from a north Texas kill shelter. She had a very large tumor on her left front leg, which had broken open. After being rescued Sasha's tumor was removed, and she rested for a couple of weeks - then went in to be spayed. While in surgery her vet discovered other tumors (uterus, cervix & spleen). All were removed completely, and Sasha is now a happy, healthy 6 year old Rattie. She weighs about 9 (stout) pounds, and almost always has a smile on her face and a wag in her tail. Sasha gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, large and small - though she doesn't take any guff from anyone. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people, but kitties need to watch their tails, as Sasha will pull some hair out for them if they seem to be up to no good! We don't know how Sasha is with children, but based on her temperament we feel she will do well with kids over about 7 years of age, and excellent with teens and all adults. Here is a link to Sasha's photo album. She is eagerly awaiting her forever family!

DJ male

2016-08-14

Adopted!

CongRATs to the Guidice family!

Location: Florida

DJ and his siblings were born on June 24th, 2016. We were blessed with a litter of 5 plump and healthy babies. Because of their coloring, we think their daddies were an Australian Cattle Dog, and possibly a Border Collie. DJ was the third pup to be born. He has beautiful markings and a gorgeous mask on his face! DJ is a little fluffier than siblings and his fur is very soft. His fostermom loves to kiss his plump puppy belly, when he isn't wiggling and trying to kiss her, pull her hair or chew on her glasses. DJ and his siblings have met kitties in their playroom, and they love to rough and tumble. Whereas these cuties will be a little larger than your average Rat Terriers, they are wonderfully happy, healthy, adorable rolly polly puppies, and should be sturdy enough to play with even young children. Nacho Bud male

2007-03-14

Location: Kansas

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Maybe he's "Nacho Bud" (not yo' bud) yet, but he would like to be if you will give him a chance! Little Nacho is 12 pounds and now about 9 years old. He spent his first year or so being used for breeding and receiving questionable treatment. He is timid when he meets someone and he is definitely hand-shy. He will yelp if startled and if approached too quickly he will run away. He will come looking for attention, though, if a person is still and will come when called if not being pursued. Nacho likes to get up and sit on a lap and be petted; although he is a bit tense when he first gets there, he will relax after he is petted for a few minutes. Although he is not aggressive toward children (or people in general), he is likely too timid to do well in a home with active children. He is good with other dogs but doesn't like to play too rough. He can get into a bit of dominant posturing with other males so would be better with female or easy-going male dogs. Or he'd undoubtedly enjoy being an only dog as this would give him more undivided attention to help him get over his insecurity. He is not interested in cats. He uses a dog door reliably and is well behaved in his crate.

Jake male

2015-03-30

Location: Florida

Meet Jake! This handsome boy is one of a kind! He is amazing on a leash and loves to go for long walks. Jake is crate trained and loves to curl up in doggie beds. He barks a little at cats, but leaves them be if they don't antagonize him. Jake is working on his doggie socialization skills, but so far he is comfortable with dogs his size and smaller. Jake has a bit of a Napoléon complex, and is not fond of large dogs. Half of his tail & part of his haunches were stained yellow when he was found, so at some point he didn't have a clean area to be housed in. His fostermom hopes with time and a few good baths, new hair will replace the stained fur. Jake is a great dog, and he'd do great in an apartment or a house. He is 2 to 3 years old, and weighs about 16 pounds. To see more of his pictures please visit Jake's photo album.
