Penny female

2017-05-14

Location: Florida

Meet Penny Ratbone! This girl is amazingly beautiful, and she has a mischievous and playful personality. Penny is the type to run out in the yard fresh after a bath - and roll in the dirt, just for fun! Penny LOVES to play with other dogs, and she is fine w/ kitties too! She is crate trained and very affectionate. Penny would do best with a secure yard to play in - she is good on a leash but likes to try to get out of her harness on walks. She is a leggy girl, weighing just under 20 pounds.Penny is about a year and a half old. To see more pictures of Penny, please click here.

Lil Red female

2017-05-14

Location: Florida

Here begins the story of Lil Red Ratbone. A fellow animal advocate saw her darting in and out between moving trucks in the Redlands (a popular dumping area in Miami). It took Isabel THREE weeks to catch Lil Red and get her to safety. This little pipsqueak is a DOLL, and she's currently enjoying the heck out of life in her foster home. Lil Red is a very small girl, and she LOVES food - probably from her days of having to scavenge for food. Lil Red is sweet, but she can be shy with new people. She'd need a family who would be willing to help her transition from her foster home to a new home.Lil Red is 1 to 2 years old, and weighs just under 10 pounds. Nacho Bud male

2007-03-14

Location: Kansas

Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Maybe he's "Nacho Bud" (not yo' bud) yet, but he would like to be if you will give him a chance! Little Nacho is 12 pounds and now about 9 years old. He spent his first year or so being used for breeding and receiving questionable treatment. He is timid when he meets someone and he is definitely hand-shy. He will yelp if startled and if approached too quickly he will run away. He will come looking for attention, though, if a person is still and will come when called if not being pursued. Nacho likes to get up and sit on a lap and be petted; although he is a bit tense when he first gets there, he will relax after he is petted for a few minutes. Although he is not aggressive toward children (or people in general), he is likely too timid to do well in a home with active children. He is good with other dogs but doesn't like to play too rough. He can get into a bit of dominant posturing with other males so would be better with female or easy-going male dogs. Or he'd undoubtedly enjoy being an only dog as this would give him more undivided attention to help him get over his insecurity. He is not interested in cats. He uses a dog door reliably and is well behaved in his crate.

Shamrock female

2017-04-23

Location: Oklahoma

Shamrock (aka Shammie) was rescued from a hoarding situation, along with her sister Thistle (recently adopted). They came to their foster home very fearful and traumatized, so Thistle was sent to another foster home, to get individual attention. Over the past months Shammie has worked hard to be a normal puppy. She's worked very hard on housebreaking and crate training, and she has accomplished her goals! Shammie was born on April 7, 2016 - which makes her a bit over a year old. She weighs 12 pounds, and is at a very good weight for her age. Shammie loves playing with her foster-siblings, and even plays with the cat & kitten in her foster home. She has not been around children while in foster-care, but should do well with slightly older kids who know how to treat a dog. To see more of Shammie's pictures please use this link.
