Hamilton male

2024-04-30

Location: Florida

We'd like to introduce you to a newly rescued sweetheart. Hamilton was found in Clewiston, FL in late January. He remained unclaimed through his stray hold; he was shut down and stiff in fear at the shelter. Hammie's freedom ride was quite recent. He doesn't know what a leash is, and had to be carried from the car to the house, the house to the yard for potty time, and the yard back to the house. Hamilton was covered in fleas and filth. He had conjunctivitis in both eyes, and was terrified during his bath - but thoroughly enjoyed his scrubbing and massage during the bath. Hamilton has seen a vet now, and has gotten his vaccines. We have meds for his eyes. He isn't producing tears on his own which may require lifelong eye drops or lubricant. Hamilton has old scars under his coat, which make him look a bit "moth eaten" in some areas. He has old scars on his forelegs where hair likely won't grow back. Aside from everything else, this amazingly sweet boy is heartworm positive. He will be started on the pre-treatment Doxycycline routine very shortly. Hammie will need to be neutered before adoption, so Handsome Hammy is on medical hold for a few months. We will look for sponsors for him when his heartworm injections start. He is located in South Florida.

UPDATE 03/25/2024: Hamilton has had his 1st Heartworm Treatment Injection. He was stoic and sweet through it all. Hamilton is on crate rest and will need his next 2 injections in April. After that, he will be neutered, and be ready for adoption in May 2024. Hammy would be fine as an only dog in the home: that way all the attention would be on him. He is fine with cats. If there is another dog in the home, that's fine, but he will not tolerate any dogs bullying him. Hamilton has had a hard life, and he remembers it all. A gentle, respectful dog would be fine. Hammy is 6 to 8 years old, and weighs about 14 pounds.

Liam male

2022-07-02

Adoption Pending!

CongRATs to Liam and the Clonch family!

Location: Florida

Liam was recently rescued off the streets. He came to rescue afraid of most things in life - people, dogs, cats, etc. He is getting better with dogs in his foster home, as well as with the kitties. Liam does NOT like big dogs: he is very afraid of them. Liam is around 1 year old, and weighs about 14 to 15 pounds. Someone with patience, lots of love, and experience with Rat Terriers would be perfect for Liam. A fenced yard is an absolute requirement for Liam.
