Nemo

2016-05-25
|
Location: Florida
Nemo is a very special little 2 year old boy. We saw his picture at a high kill shelter, and saw that both of his rear legs were broken. We knew he'd need tons of TLC and 2 very expensive surgeries, but we knew his time was short, and we wanted to save him. We got him to a vet for xrays and contacted a few orthopedic vets to see which one would best suit Nemo's unique needs. We have thankfully raised the funds to pay half of his total bill , and he is doing GREAT post-surgery! Nemo is walking great on all 4 legs, and he is raring to go go go! He is on leash-walk restriction through his recovery period. We are taking applications on this special small boy, but he will not be ready to go to his new home until after his complete recovery period, in mid to late May. Donations are graciously accepted towards Nemo's orthopedic surgeries here. More pictures of Nemo can be seen here in his photo album.

Mister Big

2015-10-25
|
Location: Oklahoma
Mister Big was rescued from a rural shelter in western Oklahoma. He is about 5 years old, and only weighs 6.6 pounds. Big doesn't care for big dogs, but does very well with smaller ones. He's also a little intimidated by the kitties in his foster home, but they can be a bit pushy for his taste. Big loves to sit on his fostermom, or in the chair next to her; he follows her from room to room, and prefers to stay close to her when possible. Here is a link to Mister Big's album of pictures. Big has a couple of shotgun pellets under his skin (one under his front leg, and one on the side of his neck, near his shoulder). Our vet says they should be fine until he needs his teeth cleaned, and then it will be very easy to remove them. Mister Big is looking for an adult home, with possibly a teen or tween "sibling" (who will hopefully want to hold him and tote him around and maybe even let him sleep in
the bed). Right now Big sleeps in a crate, but (in his personal opinion) it's not ideal for him. He has not made any messes in his crate, and is very good about "going" outside - especially if he goes out frequently. Do you have a spot on the couch and a place in your heart for sweet little Mister Big?

Chase

2016-07-24
|
Location: Florida
Chase is a 2 year old Rattie who comes to us from Georgia. His family had large packs of dogs living on their property. They moved out and left all the dogs in the yard to fend for themselves. This tale is one we hear way too often in rescue. Another rescue, in the area, was notified about these dogs, and they went daily to feed and water them. The rescue picked up the most urgent - the elderly, the nursing moms, the injured - and got them into foster homes, and got medical treatment for them. They were out of fosters homes, so they contacted one of our fostermoms in Florida. When she heard the tale, she said she would take Chase. We didn't know he was heartworm positive until he was on his 3rd leg of transport, but once we committed to him there was no going back - he became a Ratbone Rescues dog. Chase is a sweet boy who loves to give attention and be around people. He is dog and cat friendly and is a very easy going boy. He seems to be quite grateful for the stable and loving environment at his foster home. Check out more pictures of Chase here in his album. Chase will be ready for adoption in late summer/early fall, after he completes heartworm treatment. If you would like to help with Chase's heartworm treatment costs, please use this link.

Luke

2016-06-28
|
Location: Florida
Luke was surrendered to Ratbone Rescues because his owners didn't have time for him. He has had a sad start so far; he was dropped off at a shelter as a baby and was adopted at 3 months of age. Nine months later he was surrendered to rescue. Luke has some separation anxiety, which can be understood. He loves to be with his foster family, and loves to cuddle with the other dogs and cats after some good playtime. Luke is crate-trained, but he does cry in his crate for a little while. He really loves to sleep in bed with someone because he craves the stability of having his person close by. Luke is good on a leash and loves treats and attention. His fostermom is working on getting him on a good potty schedule & fun exercise routine. Luke loves to have a little canned food with his meals, and he will look at you with adoring eyes for a treat. Luke would do best in a home where someone works from home, or is home often. He is about 1 year old, and weighs 15 pounds. To see more photos of Luke, please visit his album.

Donnie

|
Location: Florida
Seniors for Seniors Candidate
Donnie is a super sweet and active senior who was overlooked by adopters at the shelter. Was it because of his graying face? Was it because he's missing an eye? Why was this sweet, adorable older gent overlooked? But no matter - Donnie is now safe, and a Ratbone Boy. Look forward to updates - this guy is a charmer! For more photos of Donnie please visit his album.
