Nibblets female

2016-03-30

Location: Kansas

This is little Nibblets, aka: Nibs, who can bounce like a kangaroo. She will leap for your arms if you invite her, no need to bend over to pick her up. This attention loving girl is 6-7 years old, about 11 pounds, with a long tail that wags enthusiastically. She loves sitting in a chair with someone and being petted. Nibblets will sleep quietly in the chair behind her fostermom during “computer time”. She would like to share the bed with her person, but is very good about sleeping in her own bed if told “go to bed”. Nibs loves chasing a ball or, even better, a stuffed toy, and she is good about bringing it back. She doesn’t really want to let it go, but will with a “give it” command then she bounces around, waiting for another throw. Nibblets gets along with the other dogs in her foster home and she likes the cats, who she will try to play with sometimes. She can get excited when playing, so might not be great for small children, but should be fine with school age children. Nibs is quite bright and may not work well with a fence under 6 feet; she has been able to go over a 4 foot fence (if there's anything nearby that she can use for a springboard). It is unknown if she can climb chain-link. Nibblets is not inclined to run off, but rather climbs in an effort to get back into the house. While she is well housebroken, Nibs seems to have less “holding power” than average and she is often unable to keep her crate clean overnight. For that reason she is not crated at night, but has access to a dog door, and will take herself out during the night. A dog door would be very important to her in a new home unless someone is willing to get up during the night to let her out, possibly more than once. Shorty female

2016-01-16

Location: Florida

Shorty is a very special girl. She was confiscated from her owner by Animal Control in Miami and they did not come back for her. Shorty ended up at the shelter a few years prior roaming the streets and her owners were able to reclaim her. She was in a loud dirty shelter and needed to get out of there asap. Her time was up, and on the last day of 2015, one of our volunteers went to save her. Shorty is a very sweet 6 year old terrier. She has some calluses on her elbows, but is getting some good food and supplements for her skin. Her coat was very dry and brittle when we got her out of the shelter, and her fostermom is working on getting her coat healthy. Shorty is crate trained, and walks to the door when she has to go potty. She is good on a leash, albeit stubborn if she wants to go in the opposite direction. She is very gentle, and an overall sweet girl. To see more pictures of Shorty please click here.

Dot female

2015-08-16

Adopted!

CongRATs to the Gerbick family!

Location: Nebraska

I am 4 years old, spayed, housebroken, and walk well on a leash. My first owner passed away, so I came to rescue (from Kentucky). I like to go places in the car, and I absolutely love going to the drive-thru. I'm a very good girl who loves people, but I get stressed when there are too many other dogs around. I would love to be an only dog if I could! I am a cuddle bug! I love to sleep in your bed and I also like to sit next to you on the sofa. I also love to run and play outside with my foster family! I am very athletic. I really, really like chew bones! I would really like to come be your friend if I could! You can see more pictures of me here.

Luna female

2016-02-28

Location: Florida

For a dog with skin infected from neglect, terrible hair loss, flea bite allergy and demodectic mange, Luna sure is a HAPPY girl! From the minute her foster mom met her, she has had a wagging tail. Luna has been under our care since January . Everyone at the vet's office adores Luna because she is always happy. Her hair is starting to grow back and her backbone is no longer visible. She has gained a fair amount of weight, so she is no longer emaciated. Luna loves to go for walks, she loves to curl up on the couch and watch TV, and she likes to cuddle in bed while her fostermom plays words with friends. She is a great protector and will bark at pesky birds flying by, and those strange people going past on the contraptions with 2 wheels. Luna is making great progress with her skin. Sasha female

2014-08-11

Location: Oklahoma

Sasha was rescued from a north Texas kill shelter. She had a very large tumor on her left front leg, which had broken open. After being rescued Sasha's tumor was removed, and she rested for a couple of weeks - then went in to be spayed. While in surgery her vet discovered other tumors (uterus, cervix & spleen). All were removed completely, and Sasha is now a happy, healthy 6 year old Rattie. She weighs about 9 (stout) pounds, and almost always has a smile on her face and a wag in her tail. Sasha gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, large and small - though she doesn't take any guff from anyone. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people, but kitties need to watch their tails, as Sasha will pull some hair out for them if they seem to be up to no good! We don't know how Sasha is with children, but based on her temperament we feel she will do well with kids over about 7 years of age, and excellent with teens and all adults. Here is a link to Sasha's photo album. She is eagerly awaiting her forever family!
