Sage female

2022-09-24

Location: Florida

Who is this cutie with the blue coat you ask? Sage is a unique girl. She came as part of a confiscation case from Georgia. She lived in a home with 6 intact males and 1 other female, and they were all at the same shelter, in extreme danger of Euthanasia. Instead of picking 1 or 2 dogs, we took all 8, as we believe in family. Sage was extremely pregnant at the shelter and she gave birth to 5 puppies just a week after coming to Ratbone. All 5 of her puppies have been adopted and now it is Sage's turn! She’s sweet, not loud or "barky" much. She does get VERY focused on hunting, and doesn't want to come in when called after potty breaks during the day. Sage likes to be petted. She is crate trained, but not fully housebroken yet. Sage gets along with all the dogs in her fostermom's home. She can be very timid once outside the safety of her foster home. Sage is shy in the beginning, but after a while warms up easier with women then with men. Based on the behavior of the other 7 dogs she came with, we believe she lived with a woman or may have had bad experiences with men.

Luke male

2020-08-10

Location: Florida

Seniors for Seniors Candidate Meet our little Luke! He's is a 9 year old, 10 pound male who was found running loose with another rat terrier (Levon) in South Florida, in the Spring of 2020. Luke is crate trained and loves to go for walks. He is an early riser, and barks to let his fostermom know when he needs to potty in the morning. Luke is okay with cats, but takes a little time to trust new people. Once he trusts, Luke is very affectionate. No young (under 12 years) children please!

Rex male

2021-03-22

Location: Florida

Introducing Rex Ratbone! Rex came to us from a plant nursery in South Florida, where he and a group of others lived outdoors with no human interaction. He was quite shy when we got him, and he is now working on trusting humans. Rex is 8 months old and weighs 16 1/2 pounds. He has not been around children, and we have no way to test him with kids. Quick movements startle Rex, so a calm loving environment would be best for him. Rex will be available for adoption soon, once he's had time to settle. He is good with cats, and is good with the dogs who came from the nursery with. Rex needs time to get used to new canine pals, and prefers non-pushy, not-in-your-face dogs. Rex is fostering in South Florida.

Ella female

2020-04-16

Location: Florida

Ella (aka Ella Bella) comes to us from Georgia, where she was an owner surrender. We were not given any medical history, except that she tested positive for heartworms. Ella moved to her foster home in South Florida, where she was welcomed by her foster family. She gets along with cats and most dogs. Aside from having heartworms, Ella came to us with an older injury - she has a previously broken pelvis. Her body did what it could to heal itself, and she runs and walks pretty well, with just a slimp limp. The orthopedic vet said she may experience arthritis later in life and she gets a joint supplement with her breakfast. Ella would do best in a home without small children, lots of stairs, or very boisterous dogs. She plays very gently with the dogs in her foster home. Ella is a stong girl and doesn't let her prior injury affect her daily routine. She was successfully treated for heartworms in April 2020. Ella is afraid of fireworks and thunderstorms, and will remind you when it's time for breakfast and dinner. Ella is crate trained and weighs between 13 and 15 pounds. Molly female

2022-07-02

Location: Florida

Molly is a gorgeous girl! She was turned over to us by another rescue, as she was getting overlooked, and she was stressed living outside. Miss Molly loves people! She can be a bit of an alpha girl - always wanting to be Boss Dog. She may be best as an ONLY dog. Molly gets along with the dogs in her foster home, and is just peachy with them if they are gentle, non-confrontational dogs. She is fine with cats but people really are her "jam"! Molly is 5 to 6 years old, and weighs around 16 pounds. She really is a cutie, and has the softest coat!
