Regis male

2010-08-25

Location: Oregon

It's time for Regis Ratbone to strut himself out to meet you! This handsome young type A Rattie was found as a stray in a Seattle (WA) suburb. Regis didn't let being lost and hungry get him down. He found a good Samaritan to give him shelter and contact Ratbone Rescues for him. We gladly took this pretty boy in and have been very pleased with our Regis. Neutered, vaccinated and bathed, Regis began his kindergarten training. Wearing a collar and walking on a leash was an experience that Regis was less than enthused about. But wanting to be a good boy wins out every time! Mostly housebroken now, Regis occasionally has an accident. He can sit and come when called, and has just started to chase a ball. Regis gets along with children and other dogs, and is a good boy with the resident cats (he'd like to chase them if only they would run). He should be about 20 pounds by the time he's fully mature. Regis loves to sit with you and give hugs, but he isn't a "kissy boy". We think he is probably between 10 and 12 months old, so expect normal puppy antics. We expect Regis to bloom in his new home as he masters more and more skills. Regis hasn't any bad habits at all - except stealing slurps of his fostermom's morning coffee!

Harper female

2010-07-02

Adoption Pending!

CongRATs to the Free family!

Location: New York

Meet Harper; she is about 5-6 years old she is very sweet. Harper is calm and enjoys just laying around and being petted. She is 100% housetrained, and loves to habg out on the couch with her foster family. Harper is a little mouthy with other dogs at first, but warms up she gets to know them. She does not like to be held, but will cuddle if you sit down beside her. Harper is very mellow and would be great for someone who is not active and just wants a sweet companion around the house and yard. She is not destructive to your things. Harper likes kids and has no problem with the cat in her foster home. She would do best in a quiet home that is just looking for a pet to love who will love them back. Are you the family for Harper?

Scrappy male

2010-04-16

Location: Florida

Scrappy would like to be called "Skippy" now. He will be four years old in July and he weighs about 12 pounds. Skippy has not had the best start to life; he was originally put into foster care when his owner was ill. His former owner kept him crated most of the time, and in order to keep him quiet he had him wear a shock collar. After being adopted for nearly a year, Skippy came back into foster care because his adopters were not willing to work with him (he was apparently displaying behaviors such as not wanting to come out of his crate, not going potty in the backyard, not wanting to eat, and "bossing" the kids); his behaviors would have been easily corrected had his adopters taken the time to work with him. Since being back in foster care Skippy has become very comfortable, and is happy to come out of his crate. He eats just fine, a little at a time, as long as he is fed a quality food. Skippy is not a fan of grass and prefers not to potty in the backyard, he also does not like to go out in the rain. Skippy would rather go for a short walk, and typically will take care of all of his business within a 5 minute walk twice a day to do both duties and once or twice extra for a quick empty of the bladder (usually no farther then the front yard). He usually only goes onto the grass to potty or smell where another dog might have been, and he walks very nicely on a leash. Skippy is slowly getting used to the other dogs and has not had a problem being around the cats. Too many dogs at one time can be overwhelming for him. Skippy does not mind when the human kids (ages 7 and 9) are in his room playing. He is even comfortable if the they take him out to potty. Skippy will chew on small rawhide bones and does not seem at all interested in playing with toys of any kind. He will give very gentle kisses when he knows you are pleased with him. Skippy likes to have quiet time with you, and has learned to work for privileges such as being on the furniture. He also knows to "sit" to have his leash put on and for food. Skippy is a quiet dog and can get stressed if things are too chaotic. He does well meeting new people (adults and kids), and also does okay with baths and having his nails clipped. Skippy will need an owner that will stay in control (be a leader to him), and be willing to build his confidence as a good dog. For more photos please click here.

Scrappy Doo male

2010-07-02

Adopted!

CongRATs to the Fialkovich family!

Location: New York

Please meet Happy Scrappy Doo! Scrappy is a black and white boy, and is approximately 1 1/2 years old and one of the happiest dogs his fostermom has ever had!! He has a full tail, which always seems to be constantly wagging. Scrappy lost his home when his family was deployed, and unfortunately, could not take Scrappy with them. But it was obvious that Scrappy was well-loved at his prior home. Scrappy is crate trained, housebroken and leash trained. He is used to a fenced-in yard, and loves hanging outside with the rest of his pack. Although Scrappy would do well with another small dog, he will do well as an only dog because all he wants to do is give his person love and be with them. He truly is a great dog. Scrappy at some point had broken his hip, which had healed before his family realized he broke it. He showed absolutely no pain, but his owners noticed that his left leg was a bit smaller and the other, and when they took him in to have it x-rayed, it showed the healed break. Scrappy has been to see his fostermom's vet, and he says that surgery is not necessary to repair the damage. Scrappy uses the leg just fine, and occasionally may skip on it, but not too often. Down the road he may have a bit of arthritis, but as long as his weight is kept under control, he should be just fine. If you want a happy, loving, adorable little companion, Scrappy is the boy for you!

Bubbles female

2010-08-09

Adoption Pending!

CongRATs to the Lord family!

Location: Georgia

Bubbles is a 5 year old female sweetheart. She is a little overweight (20 pounds, where she should be 15), but that just means there's more of her to love. Bubbles is currently on a diet to help her slim down a little. She is a kind, gentle dog who loves to explore. Bubbles loves being outside and sitting in the sun. She can be very playful, but not in a rough way. Bubbles loves other dogs, cats and kids. She is housebroken, and will "sit" for her favorite low fat treat. Bubbles loves to go on walks and she loves to snuggle. She is not a barker and she does not dig. Bubbles does have a cataract in one eye - probably caused from an old injury - but this does not slow her down one bit. If you're looking for a companion that loves to cuddle and take walks with you, then Bubbles is your girl!
