Mable

2009-02-28
|
Location: Oklahoma
Mabel came to Ratbone Rescues after her owner passed away. She just turned 7 years old on February 6th, and weighs between 15 and 20 pounds. Her home for the last 5 months has been a crate, so she is not fond of them. Mable is a calm dog, does not jump at noises, loves to be petted and to have her belly rubbed. Mable does not appear to be a lap dog; when you stop petting her she moves to her own chair. She is house trained if kept on a schedule, and barks very little. Mable sleeps by herself, curled up in the rocker (her choice), loves to go for walks in the park, and to chase around the yard. Mabel does not play with toys. She is playful with the neighbor’s dog and the young children (3 & 4 year olds). Mable Just Wants Someone To Love!!! For access to her photo album please go to this link.

Dexter

Location: Oregon
Look into my eyes; hold me, scratch me, love me. My name is Dexter, and I am a 4 year old, 15 pound former stud dog from a hoarding situation. I am an American Hairless Terrier, and have no idea that I look different. I am beautiful!! I'm a low key guy, but just bring out my ball or toy and I'll fetch and show you how funny I can be. I run fast, get the ball, run fast back (so you don't forget we are playing), and drop the ball at your feet. Then I sit and smile and wiggle while you toss the ball again. I am so happy and carefree! I get along with other dogs really well and would love to have a buddy to romp with in my new home. But, if I am your only pal, I'll be very happy to snuggle in your lap and keep you warm. I am dedicated to my person. I play very softly with my mouth so I don't hurt anybody, and I "sit" and "potty" on command (as long as it isn't raining or you have deep grass that touches my naked ankles). I do well in a crate and sleep there at night. I'm even good with children! I will show my teeth at someone if I'm sitting on my persons lap and that someone wants to touch me. Ideally, I should greet everybody when I'm on the floor. When I go for walks I like to meet all the people out walking. I like to put my front paws on them and stretch so they will give me a pet and ask lots of questions about my appearance. I ride well in a car - curled up, usually - and snoozing. If you're considering adopting me please keep in mind that I need a bath every three days, and lotion to keep me supple. I can only be in the sun for short durations - with #50 sun screen. I have pink parts that will not tan, just burn, and I can get skin cancer of I burn too many times.... just like you.

Phoenix

2010-05-21
|
Location: Pennsylvania
My name is Phoenix and I am approximately 2 years old. I love to be near my humans. I am crate trained and house trained.
I came to my foster home in July, 2010. Since being here I have overcome a few issues that I had. I used to get anxious with thunder and lightning. Me and my foster Mom went to acupuncture treatment and learned how to control those feelings and make me feel more secure. One of the things is we switched from a collar to a Puppia harness that feels like it hugs me, and makes me feel more secure. I am doing wonderful with my anxiety about storms and lightening. It has been boomer after boomer here lately because of the humidity and I just snuggle up on the couch with my foster brothers and hide my face under a blanket and all is good! My fostermom places peppermint oil on the pads of my feet to help relax me when there's a real bad storm.
I have some food allergies that trigger my anxiety, so as long as you keep me on a grain-free kibble all will be well with my anxiety and skin issues. I am also allergic to fleas, so we comb, groom and use a flea preventative.
I love playing with my squeaky ball and stuffed toys. I like being outside but, not when it is really hot; I prefer the cool evenings for investigating. I sleep in my crate with the door open; I prefer to sleep in there cause my foster brothers take up all the room in bed.
I have worked really hard and diligently to overcome my fears. My foster Mom says I am growing everyday into a more stable and loving boy.
I love little human boys to play with, and I get along with other dogs. Cats are not a favorite of mine - I think they are stuffed toys to play with, so I try to make them squeak. I really like playing Rattie 500 with my foster brothers and sister. I really enjoy playing with my humans - tug of war and fetch especially. I will fetch anything you throw for me! I bring it right back and drop it right at your hand for another round. I will play until your arm falls off or you just plain get tired! I travel well in the car (I prefer to have a safety belt and not be in a crate in a vehicle, cause I like to look out the window).
So if you have room in your heart and home I would love to come and be your snuggle bug.

Ruby

2009-02-18
|
Location: New Jersey
Ruby weighs 13 pounds, is "blue" and white, and is 9 years young. She is good with older children. Ruby is house trained, but may have an accident if not made to go out in the rain. While she is not crate trained, she is trained to stay in a gated off room at night. Does not ask to be let out if she has to go. Ruby is great on a leash and will do her business while walking on a leash. As wonderful as she is, Ruby can be a little aggressive with other dogs in her home; she is territorial and wants to dominate. We feel that Ruby would be happiest as an only dog that can be truly adored for all her cuteness and spunkiness. She is very energetic and still acts like a puppy at times, but loves to lay next to her family members when they are on the couch or in the reading chair.
Note: This is a Guardian Assistance Placement (GAP) Program dog, meaning he/she has been fortunate enough to remain in his/her home while looking for his/her new home. Veterinary records have been verified, but we must rely on input from the owner for information on behavior and temperament.

Oreo

|
Location: Florida
Oreo was born on December 23, 2009. Her mama was a Rattie and her papa was a Rattie/Chihuahua. She is a sweet little girl that now weighs 8 pounds. Oreo is outgoing and loves to play. She does well with her housebreaking, and can go all night with no potty issues. Oreo doesn't go to the door yet, but has few accidents in the house any more. She is great with everyone, and gets along well with the other dogs and the cats in her foster home. Oreo does very well with walking on a leash, and she knows some commands (sit, come). She is a sweetheart looking for a forever home. To see more pix of Oreo please click here.
