Betty female

2017-05-14

Location: Florida

Our beautiful Betty comes to us from a farm in South Florida. A group of Rat Terriers were living outside, and the people wanted someone to get the dogs off the property. After arriving at her foster home, Betty was shy and withdrawn for the first 2 days, then she ventured out to explore and learn about inside living. Once Betty realized she was in for only good things now, she started to follow her fostermom around the house. Pregnant when she was rescued, Betty gave birth to 4 beautiful boys on May 9, 2017. After her babies are weaned, Betty will begin heartworm treatment (in July). She will be available for adoption sometime in the fall of 2017. You can find more pictures of Betty here in her album. Donations toward Betty's future vet care and expenses are graciously accepted here at this link.

Poco Bill male

2011-01-16

Location: Kansas

Poco Bill is a wild bandito, with relatives from South of the Border. He is a lot of little Terrier in a 7 pound package, with a little Chihuahua thrown in for spice. And he does have spice! Bill can be a sassy little fellow, and he doesn't care how big the other dog is - he thinks he is bigger. For this reason Little Bill would do best as an only dog or with a very mellow, non-dominant dog. Bill LOVES to play, and stuffed (or unstuffed) toys are fascinating to him. He will bite, chew, chase and shake the stuffing-free squirrel, and he is not opposed to beating up a fully stuffed Santa. Bill also enjoys chasing the other dogs (mostly giving them attitude), but deprived of dog company he will play happily by himself or chew on a rawhide. Poco Bill has been very good about keeping his crate clean, and he is good about using the dog door - even though he was scared of it at first. He has had an issue with lifting his leg inappropriately; having come to rescue as an intact dog who is probably 4-5 years old, he had time to learn some bad habits. But Bill is working on improving these, though his fostermom has to be FAST, because he is. He is truly a character, and if you've had a little experience with dogs this one could be a great companion. Since he's a little fiesty, he is not recommended for small children. Bill is not really aggressive to cats, but could drive them crazy trying to boss them around. For more pictures of Poco Bill, pleaseclick here.

Patrick male

2016-01-28

Location: Florida

Patrick is a very special Rattie. When we first saw him, he was cowering in the back of his cage at a high kill shelter in Miami, FL. Not much was known about him aside from the fact that there was something wrong with his left eye. He was not able to see out of the eye and it was bulging out a little. Nothing extreme, but he needed to see a specialist. We got him out and immediately he bonded closely to his foster mom. She noticed that he held up his right knee when walking briskly so that was also evaluated; Patrick had a very bad luxating patella (knee) and it needed surgery. His eye would only get worse, so we had a specialist remove his eye and work on his knee. Pat recovered nicely from his surgeries, acting like nothing happened. He no longer cowers in fear, but now has a VERY brave persona. He protects his fostermom from critters like squirrels, cats and large dogs. He is quite the character - loving, affectionate and brave. We are looking for a special home for Pat. He loves long walks and to cuddle on the couch. Pat would prefer to be the only doggie in the home because he wants all the attention to himself. Adopted!

CongRATs to the McKenzie family!

Location: Florida

AJ is an amazingly sweet boy! He is mostly Rat Terrier, with the possibility of Beagle in the mix. AJ is on the chunky side, but the weight looks good on him. He gets along great with dogs and cats, and loves most everyone he meets except for people in uniform. AJ loves long or short walks, snuggling on the couch, and toys! He is a very attentive boy - very easy to care for and love. AJ weighs 23-25 pounds. To see more pictures of AJ please click here.

Cricket Lee female

2016-05-02

Adopted!

CongRATs to the Pixley family!

Location: Indiana

My name is Cricket Lee, and I am about 2 years old. I came to my foster home in south Indiana from Davies County, KY. My fostermom received no info about me, so she can only tell you what she has personally learned about me so far! I am spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, walk nicely on a leash, and I am housebroken. I am a "people pleaser", but I don't like dogs and cats much. I love to sit on my fostermom's lap or snuggle in the bed or chair with her. I am an explorer, and I love look all day long for mice and other varmints. I'm very fast; I caught 2 mice in one day, and I could probably catch a squirrel! I love to explore, but I will come right back when called. My fostermom says I am smart and very pretty. I have a long tail and big ears that stand straight up. I also like to go on car rides! You can see more pictures of me in my photo album. Do you have room in your heart for me?
